Premiere Postponement

May 21, 2013 in News

Hi guys, after a long wait for our show’s premiere, I unfortunately need to put it off a bit. Without going into detail, the reasons are a combination of both technical and personal. I hope to have both resolved soon so we can get this thing going, but right now it just isn’t ready yet.

Thanks for all your patience!

New Show Format and Premiere Date

May 3, 2013 in News

As things are getting ironed out on the technical end, I’d like to take some time to announce some changes to expect when the show premieres… and when to expect that to happen.

First, the live show will no longer take place on Sundays.

When I started the show a year ago, Sundays seemed like a good day because everyone is home. I didn’t take into account that HBO already figured that out so everyone was already set with plans to watch their favorite show.

So when the show returns, it will be every Wednesday instead.

Second, the live show will be significantly shorter than it has been in the past.

I’ve given this decision A LOT of thought, and while it was often a lot of fun to do shows that went on all night long (Super Empire Strikes Back went on for over 7 hours!), it took away the sense of urgency and excitement that came with the shorter shows, and most people don’t want to commit to watching something that can potentially waste their entire night.

So when the show returns, each episode will be an hour and a half.

This doesn’t mean the show will never run longer, or that we won’t have special episodes that are longer. In fact, the premiere will be twice as long!

Third, from now on we will be using only original system controllers.

That means more accurate playing for us, and a more authentic look for you!

Fourth, all new microphone system.

In the past, there have been plenty of audio issues. This aspect always bothered me, and so I’ve taken this down time to perfect it. Each person on the show will have their own microphone and virtually all issues have been solved. That means no more stopping to fix issues or audio coming from only one speaker. Pretty good, huh?

Fifth, no more edited episodes.

While it was a lot of fun to edit together shortened versions of the live stream, such as Darkwing Duck, it just took up way too much time. While there will be highlights posted individually, most of the focus will be on the live show itself this time around. The live experience is really what drove the show in the first place, so I’d like to get back to that style.

And FINALLY:

I BEAT THE NINTENDO!

will premiere on

Wednesday, May 22 at 9:30PM EST

Hope to see you all there!

Lost Episode: Darkwing Duck (NES) – The Redemption

May 1, 2013 in Featured, Full Episodes, I Beat The Nintendo!, I Beat The Nintendo!

After the storm, we lost all of our footage including this episode which I needed to edit together because of technical difficulties. However, 6 months later, I recovered the files and pieced them together. Enjoy!

Super Metroid (Mic Testing)

April 23, 2013 in Featured, Greg's Solo Adventures, Greg's Solo Adventures

You might have noticed I’ve been testing out the new system for the stream over the past couple of weeks, and some of you have been helping and giving feedback (THANK YOU!). Last night I asked Meaghan to help give me feedback to work the kinks out of the microphone and to my surprise, a whole bunch of people joined in! Turned into a fun hour or so of solo streaming so I decided to post it.

Next step is testing out the real setup on the sofa with multiple people. Making progress!

The Return…

April 2, 2013 in News

I realize I haven’t given any updates on here in quite a while, although there have been a few on Facebook, so I wanted to check in with you guys.

It’s been a very busy few months for me, but the room is now finally built which means we have a place to broadcast the show again! The problem is the computer I built to run the stream is one of the many things that was lost in the flood.

HOWEVER…

I just purchased a new iMac which will be used for many things, one of them being the video editing for the YouTube clips and episodes. That means for now I can start setting up some solo streams from my desk until we get all the components to build a new computer for the show.

I don’t have a time frame for when the full return will take place, but I promise it will be better than ever because I’ve taken this time to cut things out that didn’t work and add things in that will work better. As I do my solo streams, I’ll update you guys on what’s happening and all the progress I’m making. Mike is eager to get things rolling and has been a huge help in this whole process, and Meaghan will be back for sure too.

You might have also noticed that we only posted outtakes from our web series. So where is the series? I didn’t feel the final product was of good enough quality to post, so I chose not to. Soon after filming the first episode, things got really busy and the rebuilding process began, so there hasn’t been time to film any more episodes. If you haven’t gotten a chance to check out the outtakes, though, they definitely show how much fun we had shooting it.

During this down time, we’ve been getting new subscribers on YouTube which tells me things are only picking up! Looking forward to seeing all of you in the chat so keep an eye out on Twitch for some upcoming streams!

Thanks for sticking around, you guys are the best.

New (Old) Controllers

November 21, 2012 in Featured, News

I’ve been taking this down time to fine tune the show, so that when it comes back, it’s better than ever. The first definite change is that all future games will be played with their original controllers.

This means better control for us, which means better gameplay, and an overall more authentic look back at these classic games. Plenty more to come, and I’ll be keeping the site updated with our progress.
